Solubilisers for air freshener systems
With the concept of a positive fragrance effect permeating most household categories, air fresheners are leading the way with the introduction of alternative scents and delivery formats. Consumer trends such as aromatherapy have transferred to the home care sector. This has influenced the development of freshener sprays, both aerosol and non-aerosol, and air freshener gels or liquid wick-type products, which provide longer-term distribution into the atmosphere.
Key to this product category is the use of surfactants as fragrance solubilisers. This leads to the reduction of alcohol levels, frequently achieving improved fragrance release characteristics and reduced alcohol notes. Crodasol AC is a new high performance solubiliser for fragrances and essential oils. It possesses excellent solubility in alcohol and aqueous/alcoholic systems, and mixes easily with no gelling or clouding to give crystal clear solutions at very low usage levels. It is particularly effective as a solubiliser for citrus fragrances.
The Crillet range are extremely versatile as solubilisers for all types of fragrances, as they are excellent oil in water emulsifiers. Crillet 1 has a very pale coloration and low odour, which is beneficial in the formulation of colourless systems. Crillet 4 is an easy-to-use liquid that functions as a solubiliser where food contact or ingestion may be an issue.
Croduret 50 is an excellent solubiliser for essential oils. It can also be used to solubilise high levels of fragrance into air freshener gels.
Etocas 29 is highly effective in wick-type products containing an aqueous/alcohol system, by aiding the controlled release of fragrance from the system.
Volpo S20 functions at very low inclusion levels and is cost effective in systems where heat is supplied; such as air freshener gels.
